Supporting a loved one through addiction can be challenging—but your compassion and persistence can make a powerful difference. Here are a few steps you can take:

  • Educate Yourself: Learn about addiction as a disease. Understanding what your loved one is facing can help you respond with empathy rather than frustration.

  • Listen Without Judgment: Create a safe space for honest conversations. Let them know they are not alone and that help is available.

  • Encourage Professional Help: Gently suggest seeking treatment. Offer to help research programs or attend appointments if they’re open to it.

  • Set Healthy Boundaries: Support doesn’t mean enabling. Establishing boundaries can protect both you and your loved one during their journey.

  • Take Care of Yourself: Your own mental and emotional well-being matters. Consider support groups or therapy to process your own feelings.

At Hygea Healthcare, we’re here to guide families and loved ones through the recovery process. If you need help starting the conversation or finding the right care, contact our team today.

While Hygea Healthcare does not currently accept walk-ins, our team is here to support you. If you or a loved one needs immediate help, please call our admissions line at 410-512-9525. A caring member of our staff is available to talk with you, answer your questions, and guide you toward the next steps in the recovery process. You are not alone—help is just a phone call away.

Recovery doesn’t end when treatment does—and neither does our support. At Hygea Healthcare, we prioritize long-term success by offering a full continuum of care, including:

  • Aftercare Planning: Every client leaves with a personalized plan to support their transition back into daily life.

  • Alumni Program: Our alumni network offers ongoing connection, encouragement, and opportunities to give back.

  • Recovery Resources: We help connect individuals with housing, employment support, and peer recovery specialists.

  • Referrals to Ongoing Care: If needed, we coordinate continued therapy, medication management, or community-based support.

Our goal is to walk alongside each person—before, during, and after treatment—to help build a strong foundation for lasting recovery.

While Hygea treats both men and women, we do not offer a formal couples program or admit couples together as a treatment unit. Our focus is on individualized care and creating a safe, supportive environment for personal recovery. However, loved ones—including partners—may be involved in certain aspects of care, such as family sessions, when clinically appropriate.
