Cyndi Robertson, LCSW-C
BIO
Cyndi Robertson began her career in the field of substance use disorder (SUD) treatment in 2011 as an intern through Anne Arundel Community College. That internship opened the door to her first role as a Treatment Assistant (BHT), where she worked full time while completing her associate’s, bachelor’s, and ultimately her master’s degree. Over the next several years, she advanced through multiple roles at that organization before moving on in 2018 to a new provider, where she became Clinical Supervisor of the Relapse Program and later the Primary SUD Program.
In 2023, Cyndi took on the role of Clinical Director for a start-up in Harford County and, within a year, was promoted to Chief Clinical Officer. In that position, she helped the program expand across Maryland, launch a new out-of-state location, and open an OMHC program.
Now with nearly 15 years of experience in behavioral health, Cyndi is most proud of her ability to build team cohesion, foster authentic relationships, and develop programs that allow clinical teams to thrive. She is deeply committed to mentorship, believing the most powerful thing clinicians bring to the field is themselves. Watching staff grow in both confidence and skill has become one of her greatest professional rewards.
Cyndi earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work in 2017. She holds her LCSW-C in Maryland and is also licensed as an LCSW in North Carolina. Her diverse field experiences, along with advanced training in relapse prevention (Gorski, 2019), have shaped her holistic and client-centered approach to care.
Like many in the field, Cyndi feels that SUD treatment “chose her.” From her very first internship day, she knew she had found her calling. Over the years, she has witnessed countless clients break free from addiction, rebuild their lives, and even return to the field as professionals themselves. These transformations fuel her passion and belief that recovery is always possible.
Outside of work, Cyndi spends most of her time with her dog, Boh, her family, and close friends. She honors her late bonus daughter by visiting an art museum in every state and attending live concerts—two passions they shared. A devoted Swiftie, she can talk endlessly about Taylor Swift and the power of music as a source of healing.
Cyndi’s leadership is guided by the belief that the work of recovery should be meaningful, creative, and even fun. She strives to build a culture of connection, growth, and authenticity at Hygea Healthcare—ensuring that both staff and clients feel safe, supported, and seen.
